First of all, the question arises, how much importance people give to their sexual health. Are they aware of this term or simply neglecting it on the cost of their general overall health? Day by day, people are becoming more aware about their health but is it the same for sexual health too? Though each individual has its own point of view but people would certainly agree that general health and sexual health go hand in hand. Our sexual health does influence our day to day life a lot and vice versa. In fact sexual health also means the same i.e. good health but it’s related to the hygiene for your genital and related systems, feeling satisfied about your sexual desires.
According to World Health Organization (WHO) definition of sexual health i.e. "A state of physical, emotional, mental and social well-being related to sexuality; not merely the absence of disease, dysfunction or infirmity. Sexual health requires a positive and respectful approach to sexuality and sexual relationships, as well as the possibility of having pleasurable and safe sexual experiences, free of coercion, discrimination and violence. For sexual health to be attained and maintained, the sexual rights of all persons must be protected, respected and fulfilled".
Now you can judge yourself against the definition and can at least roughly determine where you actually stand. The above mentioned definition includes not only physical but also mental, emotional and social well being. The key physical aspects of sexual health are Sexual lifestyles and behavior, access to works and services in accordance with improving sexual health. These areas will be covered later in my blogs.
Whether it’s a problem related to work, home, money, health, or relationship, it will directly or indirectly affects your sexual desire and plays havoc with your sexual health and ultimately consumes your well-being. You must be sexually healthy, to maintain your sexual activity. But without proper sex drive, you cannot enjoy better sex which can finally result into all kinds of health problems and a short term relationships. Hence, person should always try to maintain a good sexual health.
